My Reiki Journey
My Reiki path began in 2020, during one of the most difficult periods of my life.
I felt lost and empty, with very little energy or joy in my life. I felt disconnected from myself and from the world around me.
While searching for alternative approaches, I learned about Reiki and decided to book a session. I didn’t know much about it at the time, but that first experience became an important turning point in my life.
As I continued receiving and practising Reiki, I began to feel more balanced and connected to myself.
As Reiki became an important part of my own life, I decided to learn more about its teachings so I could eventually share it with others.

What began as part of my own healing eventually became something I wanted to share with others.
I studied Usui Reiki Ryōhō and Gendai Reiki Hō, learning traditional Japanese Reiki practices alongside a modern approach. Now a Usui Reiki Master and teacher, my path has been inspired by the teachings of Hiroshi Doi and Frans Stiene, and their dedication to preserving Usui’s legacy.
Reiki is an energy healing modality and part of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Small studies, including a 2024 meta-analysis of over 800 participants, have found that Reiki can help reduce anxiety, and other research, including a study on older adults, suggests it may also support pain relief and emotional wellbeing.
Reiki is also offered in some hospitals and hospices as a complementary practice. My own experience volunteering Reiki at Hospice Wellington has been a meaningful part of my practice.
