How Does Reiki Work?

The Reiki practitioner channels the Universal healing energy, sending it to the recipient through light touch or by working a few inches above the body. This healing energy helps to relieve emotional stress and promotes self-healing.

Typical Reiki Session Flow:
- Introduction: The Reiki session starts with a short explanation about what to expect and how the session flows. The reiki practitioner will also inquire about your concerns and the primary goal.
- Relaxation and Preparation: You can lie down or sit comfortably, close your eyes, listen to soothing music to relax, and the most important thing is to be open to receive the energy. Many clients report experiencing deep relaxation, warmth, or tingling sensations.
- Energy Scanning and Healing: The practitioner moves through various hand positions—often lightly touching or hovering above the body—and the energy will flow to where it is needed most.
- Closure and Reflection: At the end of the session, you are given time to rest, reflect on the experience, and discuss any sensations or insights with the practitioner.

Gendai Reiki Levels
Reiki training is traditionally structured in levels that build on one another. Both traditional Usui Reiki and the modern Gendai Reiki system offer pathways to deepen your understanding and ability to work with energy. Gendai Reiki (Modern Reiki), founded by Hiroshi Doi, integrates traditional Usui Reiki with modern healing techniques. This system includes four levels:
- Gendai Reiki Shoden (Level 1) – Focuses on self-healing and the foundation of Reiki energy. Students learn how to channel Reiki for personal well-being and healing others through hands-on techniques.
- Gendai Reiki Okuden (Level 2) – Introduces Reiki symbols and mantras to enhance healing energy, facilitate emotional healing, and practice distance healing.
- Gendai Reiki Shinpiden (Level 3) – Deepens the spiritual aspect of Reiki, strengthening one’s connection to universal energy. This level focuses on advanced techniques and personal enlightenment.
- Gendai Reiki Gokuikaiden (Master Level) – The highest level of training, allowing practitioners to become Reiki Masters and teachers. It emphasizes profound self-realization, mastery of Reiki, and the ability to pass attunements to others.
